MEMSolver offers two consulting
business models. 1) Contract based and 2) Project based.
Contract based consultancy services
This model is most suited for companies that need the
services of an engineer without going through
the hassles of hiring and maintaining one. The
consultant will work more like a telecommuting employee,
and will be available for a minimum of 4hrs per day, 5
days a week. During this time, the consultant/contractor will be available online and over the phone
to attend to any work that needs immediate attention. If
there is more work it will be done offline. For more
than 6 months contract, the hourly rate is $20 and for
contracts less than 6 months it is $25 per hour. This
rate is the same whether it is simulation, layout or
some other engineering work. Worksheet will be sent on a
bi-weekly basis.
This model gives the opportunity to "hire" an engineer
at a fraction of the cost compared to an in-house
engineer. If annual consultancy charges are calculated,
it comes out to be less than $25,000 which is a fraction of
the annual salary of a MEMS design engineer in the US.
Project based consultancy services
This model is most suited when you
are looking for someone to design a small portion of a
project for a short period of time. Once the objective
of work is discussed and finalized, the consultant will
communicate back with the final results along with the
hours spend. For modeling and simulation, the rates are
$75 per hour and for layout work or any other
engineering work it is $60 per hour. It can also be a
fixed fee project based on the customer requirements. If the work extends
beyond two weeks, an invoice will be sent at the end of
two weeks for the work done.
